The Public Health System in Canada: Not Meeting the Needs of Canadians

Abstract
Public health renewal, given increased momentum in Canada by our experience with severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) and the subsequent "Naylor Report" (National Advisory Committee on SARS and Public Health 2003), has undergone some similar and some very different challenges compared with the United States. Canada's publicly funded healthcare system and large and sparse geography provide some challenges other than those highlighted by Tilson and Berkowitz.
