I would like to thank the Canadian Journal of Nursing Leadership for this opportunity to comment on June Kikuchi's thoughtful recommendations for the CNA's Code of Ethics; her insightful analysis will certainly be helpful in future revisions. I will not comment on all her recommendations, but will briefly discuss one aspect of the CNA Code that I believe underlies many of her concerns - the lack of a definitive articulation of the nurse-patient relationship in normative terms - a problem that can lead to moral relativism.
